About the Artist
Leaflin’s art career began early in life. She won her first competition
at the age of 10 when she received the “Brooke Bond Travel & Education
Award” for her oil pastel “Canada Goose”.
She carried her art interests onto college where she earned an Art Degree
from Radford University. While studying at Radford, she was exposed to various
mediums, techniques and styles which she incorporates in her work, from her
whimsical Papier Mache’ sculptures & clay pieces, to her more serious
landscapes & animal portraits.
Extensive travel throughout England, Canada and the USA has afforded her
enriching experiences. Visiting Tintagel (the castle of King Arthur &
caves of Merlin), experiencing the mystical magic of Stonehenge, witnessing
the spectacular beauty of the Northern Lights and absorbing the breathtaking
vistas in the Blue Ridge Mountains have all added to the spirit of her artwork.
Artist’s Statement
Art has always been a constant in my life. Always there, always waiting
for me. As with most artists I experience many emotions when creating. I
hope my art engages the viewer and that it reflects the sentiment I experience
during its creation.
